Problem:
Love Home Swap approached us in September 2020, seeking help to drive traffic and increase members through organic search in the UK; this followed a difficult period for the business during the Covid pandemic.
Solution:
Initially, we conducted a thorough audit of the site and existing assets; this identified several areas that needed improvement, including technical and structural issues that were negatively impacting the site’s visibility in search results. We also conducted content gap analyses, keyword / topic research, and trend analyses to identify opportunities for on-page optimisation and content creation.
Based on the audit, we created a strategic roadmap that included enhancing the site’s technical profile and information architecture to establish a strong foundation, as well as creating useful, engaging content and optimising on-page elements to improve topical relevancy and user experience.
One major technical project we undertook was to reduce duplication and competition between pages by consolidating content into more targeted pages. We also worked on restructured the blog section to improve navigation for both users and search engine bots. With a solid content foundation in place, a content calendar that focussed on answering common queries about home swapping and trend-based, seasonal features then contributed heavily to a significant increase in traffic to the blog (+286%) over the course of our collaboration.
